I’ve Spent 25 Years Watching Superior Expertise Lose to Inferior Marketing.

And I built Brave Messaging to stop it.

I’m Brian Griffiths, founder of BStrong Marketing.

Twenty-five years in visual communication and strategic marketing taught me one truth: Expertise without positioning is expensive invisibility.

Over and over, I watched the same thing happen. The most qualified firm loses to the most visible one. Serious professionals become interchangeable online. Not because their work wasn’t good enough. Because their expertise wasn’t legible to the market.

Because their expertise wasn’t legible to the market.

The Pattern I Kept Seeing

IT consultants with 16 years of experience losing to newer, flashier firms. Not because the newcomers had better systems — because they positioned themselves while the veterans played it safe.

Master builders with 30 years of craftsmanship invisible online, while apprentices win clients on Instagram.

Board-certified physicians watching wellness coaches steal their protocols and put patients at risk.

Different industries. Different expertise.

Same problem: invisible positioning.

Why “Clear” Messaging Wasn’t Enough

For five years, I implemented StoryBrand for clients.

It created clarity. Customer-centric messaging. Professional websites.

And everyone started sounding exactly the same.

Everyone became customer-centric. Everyone promised proven results. Everyone told a clean, empathetic story.

Clarity stopped being a differentiator.
It became the new baseline — and baselines don’t win.

What I Noticed That Others Missed

The old contract — do excellent work, earn recognition — stopped holding. Not because the work got worse. Because the market changed how it assigns value. Attention replaced contribution. Visibility replaced reputation. And the experts who refused to play the visibility game didn’t just fall behind. They disappeared.

Most of them responded by chasing the wrong signals: more credentials, another website redesign, harder networking.

None of it worked because none of it addressed the structural break. The market wasn’t ignoring their expertise. The market couldn’t see it.

That realization is what led to Brave Messaging. Not louder marketing. Not better tactics.

A methodology built to make expertise visible in a market that rewards the loudest voice.  By giving the right voice something worth hearing.

The problem wasn’t tactical. It was structural.

Who This Work Is For (and Who It Isn’t)

This work is for B2B service businesses that have the expertise and don’t have the positioning. Firms that keep losing proposals to competitors they know aren’t as good. Experts whose reputation with existing clients is strong but whose visibility to new prospects is weak. Businesses that tried clarity frameworks and still sound like everyone else in their market.

This work is not for businesses still figuring out who their market is.

It’s not for anyone looking for quick tactics or templates.

And it’s not for anyone unwilling to exclude, specialize, or take a position that makes their competitors uncomfortable.

If your goal is broad appeal, this isn’t the right fit. If your goal is authority, keep reading.

How I Got Here

I’ve spent my career studying what actually makes expertise visible. Not one framework — the underlying pattern across frameworks: positioning theory, persuasion psychology, buyer behavior, competitive dynamics. What they share. Where they contradict. What works when they’re combined and what falls apart when they’re applied in isolation.

I built BStrong Marketing because I got tired of watching the wrong businesses win.

Today I work with expertise-driven B2B firms to make their positioning as strong as their delivery.
